Project Engineer

We are seeking two Project Engineers to join a prominent international company specializing in industrial systems and engineering. This organization is renowned for its expertise in designing, manufacturing, assembling, and testing industrial systems, primarily serving the power generation and defense sectors.

The primary objective of these roles (mid-level and senior) is to represent the commercial project within the production operations of this well-established manufacturing firm.

The Project Engineer will play a crucial role in developing and overseeing a feasible production plan and timeline, facilitating necessary actions to ensure adherence to this plan. These actions may encompass outsourcing or insourcing tasks, arranging contract work support, and identifying alternative processes. Essentially, the Project Engineer serves as the project representative, responsible for coordinating all activities to achieve project goals while ensuring the factory maintains optimal performance in terms of cost, efficiency, compliance, and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the creation and management of the project plan and timeline.
  • Monitor project progress against established plans and schedules.
  • Provide monthly updates on cost forecasts for manufacturing activities to the Project Manager and Cost Engineer.
  • Act as the liaison between clients, project managers, and production facilities.
  • Oversee and coordinate any necessary installation activities during project execution.
  • Collaborate with procurement and project teams during production stages.
  • Transfer budget responsibilities to procurement when outsourcing decisions are made.
  • Lead customer visits and oversee witness points as required.
  • Generate project KPIs, including schedule adherence, earned value analysis, quality, cost, and delivery metrics.
  • Maintain tracking reports during project execution.
  • Ensure timely completion and communication of non-conformance reports.
  • Facilitate activities to resolve issues related to project budget, design changes, profitability, quality, and delivery timelines.
  • Serve as the central communication hub for the project.
  • Participate in production planning meetings to optimize schedules and support overall operations.

This list is not exhaustive, and the post holders may be required to undertake additional duties for the effective performance of this role.

Operational Requirements:

  • Comprehensive understanding of production processes, tolerances, and work scopes.
  • Knowledge of earned value analysis.
  • Ability to produce and interpret project plans in GANTT chart format.
  • Proficient in preparing SWOT and PESTLE analyses for projects and acting on the findings.
  • Thorough understanding of financial reporting.
  • Capable of conducting risk analyses.
  • Strong communication skills across various levels, with clear and detailed reporting.
  • Natural leadership qualities, with the ability to garner support and negotiate solutions.
  • A minimum of three years of significant project experience in a highly regulated environment.
  • Graduate-level education or equivalent capability.
