Reporting directly to the Executive Chef, you will collaborate with clients, subcontractors, and team members, demonstrating exceptional teamwork and fostering positive relationships. Available Work Schedule:

• 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday

• Term Time only.
Compensation: £18 per hour, with opportunities for overtime.

Your Responsibilities

As a skilled chef, you will be accountable for delivering high-quality food services, addressing staffing requirements, recruitment, training, and safety discussions, as well as contributing to menu development, school audits, and participating in both internal and client meetings.
You will need to be adaptable to meet the evolving needs of the business. Given the geographical area and the necessity for service continuity, this role will also involve covering for absences within the kitchen team.

Key Duties Include:
• Preparing hot and cold meals according to established menus and recipes.
• Managing food delivery within the educational setting.
• Complying with current HACCP and food safety regulations and procedures.
• Promoting and ensuring cleanliness in food preparation processes.
• Overseeing food production levels while minimizing waste.
• Utilizing management systems to maintain food safety records.
• Organizing and securing storage of supplies.
• Ensuring safe practices around kitchen equipment and addressing maintenance issues.
• Maintaining accurate inventory levels, including kitchen supplies.
• Assisting in achieving financial objectives set by the Executive Chef and Facilities Manager.
• Managing waste through precise product measurement.
• Enhancing personal knowledge through in-house training and external courses.
• Adhering to all company policies and procedures.
• Actively participating in team meetings.
• Following all directives from the management team and head office.
• Treating all customers with respect and consideration, in line with customer service training.

Who We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Experience as a Culinary Operations Manager in high-volume catering within the education or contract catering sectors.
  • Food Safety Hygiene (Level 3) Certificate - Desirable.
  • NVQ Level 2 in the hospitality industry.
  • Innovative and creative mindset.
  • Experience in menu planning and cost management.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and their application in the kitchen.
  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Proficient ICT skills.
  • Ability to operate relevant catering equipment and train staff accordingly.
  • In-depth understanding of COSHH regulations.
  • Commitment to ongoing development and training opportunities.
  • Desirable: a current clean driving license and willingness to drive.
  • Excellent organizational, presentation, communication, team-building, and interpersonal skills.
  • Outstanding customer service and people management abilities.
