Job Title: Commercial Insurance Lawyer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Commercial Insurance Lawyer to join our team at Aviva. As a key member of our legal team, you will provide subject matter expertise, legal guidance, and advice on complex legal matters related to commercial insurance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal guidance and advice on commercial insurance matters, including policy wording drafting and interpretation, reinsurance, and insurance regulatory issues.
  • Work closely with our GCS businesses in London and Canada to provide legal advice on corporate and international (re)insurance transactions.
  • Support the delivery of good customer outcomes through all activities and deliverables, enabling us to act in good faith towards customers, avoid causing foreseeable harm, and enable and support our customers to pursue their financial objectives.
  • Represent Aviva in high-value transactions and collaborate with internal and external partners to achieve the business' objectives.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including underwriters, finance, and claims teams.

Requirements:

  • Qualified lawyer with experience in insurance distribution contracts, including binders and slips.
  • Background in drafting and negotiating a wide range of different commercial contracts and agreements.
  • Experience of policy wording drafting/interpretation, reinsurance, and insurance regulatory issues would be desirable.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams.

  • Salary: Circa £55,000 National / Circa £65,000 London (location, skills, experience, and qualifications dependent).
  • Bonus opportunity of 10% of annual salary (actual amount depends on your performance and Aviva's performance).
