We are looking for a dedicated and motivated doctoral researcher to become part of our team at the School of Civil Engineering. This position focuses on modelling the transmission of microorganisms within healthcare environments. You will engage in the esteemed Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) doctoral network associated with the HumanIC project. This groundbreaking initiative brings together leading academic institutions and industry collaborators in the healthcare HVAC sector to train the next generation of engineers and scientists, aiming to transform indoor climates for Human-centric Healthcare Environments.
Your main task will involve creating sophisticated computational models to illustrate the spread of airborne microorganisms generated by healthcare activities, and validating these models through controlled chamber experiments or real-world data collection. Utilizing these models, you will evaluate the risks of air and surface exposure linked to various transient releases and investigate potential preventive strategies.
This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to vital research efforts and make a significant difference in healthcare safety protocols. Furthermore, you will have the chance to engage in enriching experiences with both industrial and academic partners across Europe.
Eligibility Requirements:
Candidates must not possess a doctoral degree at the time of recruitment;
Candidates must not have resided or primarily engaged in activities within the UK for more than 12 months in the three years preceding their recruitment under the HumanIC project, irrespective of nationality. Short visits, such as vacations, are not included in this stipulation.
