Quantity Surveyor Role at Together Housing

We are seeking a skilled Quantity Surveyor to manage the costs and budgets of construction projects within our organisation. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for preparing and analysing cost estimates, monitoring project costs, and ensuring that projects are delivered within budget.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Pricing and forecasting the cost of construction materials and services for our responsive repair and empty home delivery projects.
  • Tracking changes to project designs and construction work, and adjusting budget projections in collaboration with project managers.
  • Selecting and sourcing construction materials to ensure value for money representation and supporting delivery managers in contract management to achieve VFM and procurement compliance.
  • Leading procurement activity within Property Care, including sourcing contractors and subcontractors, and liaising with the procurement team to ensure OJEU compliance.
  • Supporting responsive repair and empty home teams in measuring and valuing work done within programmed works.
  • Assisting the team in handling contract inquiries, including communicating with legal representatives and tracking payments to subcontractors.
  • Working closely with clients and collaborating with construction professionals, including site managers, project managers, and site engineers.
  • Developing and implementing innovative management strategies to achieve construction savings and control costs while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Conducting special studies to establish standard hour and cost data and identifying opportunities for cost reduction.
  • Consulting with appointed contractors, colleagues, project managers, and other teams to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
  • Reviewing architectural plans for non-standard schemes to prepare quantity needs.
  • Supporting project managers to monitor ongoing projects and control shifts in project direction, scope, or budget.
  • Providing risk assessments on programme delivery and escalating within the THG risk management framework.
Requirements:
  • Full UK driving license.
  • Relevant qualification in quantity surveying.
  • Proven experience as a quantity surveyor in a similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction and quantity surveying practices.
  • Experience in cost estimating, budgeting, and cost control.
  • Familiarity with construction contracts and legal regulations.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to use quantity surveying software and tools, such as cost estimation and project management software.
  • Previous experience of refurbishment projects.
