Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Plant and Welding Equipment Specialist to join our team at Speedy Hire. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for the inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of plant hire and welding equipment in the region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect and test welding and engineering equipment to ensure it is safe and compliant with our safety standards.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on plant hire and welding equipment, including diesel, petrol, Tig and Mig welders, welding fume extractors, electrical pipe threaders, handheld pipe threaders, pipe jointing tools, and crimping tools.
  • Liaise with other engineers, drivers, and the hire desk team to ensure repairs and maintenance are prioritized effectively.
  • Work closely with the depot team to ensure all equipment is in good working order and available for hire.

Requirements:

  • Proven ability to test and repair plant and welding equipment to the highest standard, ideally gained within the hire industry or similar.
  • NVQ Level 2 or City & Guilds equivalent in a relevant discipline.
  • Technical/engineering background is desirable.
  • Electrical knowledge is desirable.
  • Flexible approach to working hours.
  • Ability to support the business unit/team to deliver our ESG Strategy.
