About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Scientist to join our team at Digital Waffle. As a Senior Data Scientist, you will play a key role in driving business growth and innovation through data-driven insights.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with our Chief Product Officer and Head of Engineering to develop and implement cutting-edge data science solutions.
  • Work extensively with machine learning libraries such as MediaPipe and MoveNet to leverage pose estimation coordinates.
  • Develop and implement algorithms to accurately calculate metrics such as total reps, rep progress, rep speed, and form quality.
  • Utilize statistical analysis techniques to minimize inaccuracies when dealing with complex occlusion scenarios.
  • Collaborate with our Chief Product Officer to ensure technical and product requirements are understood and executed on.
  • Work closely with our Quality Assurance team to resolve bugs and minimize any bugs that appear in staging/production releases.
  • Ensure smooth and regular release of new features, including coordination and communication with our Customer Support and Marketing teams.
  • Opportunity to potentially assume a leadership role as our data science team expands.
Requirements
  • Extensive experience as a data scientist within a startup or high-growth environment.
  • Ability to develop and implement algorithms for real-time data processing and analysis.
  • Strong foundation in linear algebra, geometry, and basic calculus.
  • Good understanding of probability and statistical analysis.
  • Proficiency in using project management tools such as JIRA.
  • Familiarity with basic coding in Kotlin or Java.
  • Experience using MediaPipe, MoveNet, or other similar machine learning models, ideally pose estimation.
  • Experience with feature extraction from time-series or sequential data.
  • Outstanding communication abilities, particularly in effectively and clearly explaining technical concepts to non-technical individuals and in writing detailed project documentation.
  • Meticulous and thorough in paying attention to details.
Nice to Haves
  • Experience coding in Kotlin.
  • Product-minded with a good understanding of how to build products.
  • Passion for fitness, ideally with experience building fitness products and working out.
