Position Overview

The role of the Associate Medicines Advice Hub Lead is pivotal in ensuring the delivery of high-quality pharmaceutical services within the NHS framework. The successful candidate will:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a clinical leader and advocate for the vision and values of the organization, collaborating closely with the Professional Lead for Medicines Advice to enhance service offerings that meet the clinical demands of the NHS.
  • Oversee the management of the NHS Medicines Advice service operations within the host organization, ensuring that performance, governance, and operational delivery align with national standards and quality benchmarks.
  • Lead a specialized team of pharmacists, driving the effective provision of patient-centered services in accordance with strategic objectives, while fostering innovation and high satisfaction levels among service users.
  • Ensure compliance with quality, performance, productivity, and workforce targets as established by the oversight group across the relevant service sites.
  • Manage financial performance and resource allocation for the Medicines Advice function, ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints and achieving cost improvement goals.
  • Establish and maintain robust internal controls to guarantee effective financial management and resource deployment, in line with NHS requirements.
  • Explore opportunities for additional service delivery through local agreements to enhance revenue generation.
  • Provide direct line management to Advanced Medicines Advice pharmacists, ensuring adherence to HR policies and effective staff management practices.
  • Engage with a variety of stakeholders to cultivate collaborative relationships that enhance the quality of NHS outputs, including clinical responses and specialized web resources.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert, maintaining credibility with a diverse range of stakeholders, including commissioners and healthcare providers.
  • Facilitate consensus-building among various stakeholders, addressing differing perspectives and agendas.
  • Represent the Medicines Advice function at key meetings and forums as required.
  • Support the Professional Lead in managing a team of pharmacy professionals to achieve NHS targets efficiently and effectively.
  • Provide assistance to other sites within the NHS Medicines Advice framework when necessary, including managing temporary staff redeployments.
  • Communicate effectively with pharmacy colleagues regarding patient-specific issues, workflow, and managerial concerns.
  • Administer the NHS Medicines Advice budget for the host organization, ensuring fiscal responsibility.

Qualifications and Experience:

Essential Criteria:

  • Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
  • Possession of a Master of Pharmacy (MPharm) or equivalent qualification.
  • Postgraduate Diploma or Master's Degree in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated management experience or qualifications.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Research or publication experience relevant to Medicines Optimisation.
  • Doctorate level qualification.

Skills:

Essential Skills:

  • Ability to manage a wide range of complex activities.
  • Proven leadership in large-scale projects.
