We are seeking a highly motivated UK Head of Data Governance to establish, implement, and oversee a comprehensive data governance framework. This pivotal role emphasizes collaboration, education, and advocacy to ensure all teams understand the importance of data governance in accelerating project delivery, enhancing data quality, compliance, security, privacy, and preparing data for AI initiatives.
This position requires a strong technical background with the ability to guide technology teams on best practices in data governance and tools. Initially, this role will be independent, with potential for future team expansion of 2-3 heads.
Your Responsibilities- Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a robust data governance framework encompassing data quality, data protection, data privacy, and data lifecycle management. Establish clear policies, procedures, and standards, fostering a culture of responsible data management.
- Collaboration & Advocacy: Act as a data governance champion, promoting a culture of data stewardship across all business units. Communicate the value and impact of data governance initiatives to stakeholders at all levels, ensuring buy-in and active participation.
- Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure strict adherence to data protection laws and mitigate potential data-related risks.
- Data Quality: Oversee programs to monitor and improve data accuracy and reliability. Implement data quality metrics and KPIs to measure the effectiveness of data governance initiatives. Manage data governance tools, such as Purview, and collaborate with technology and business units to implement technologies that enhance data integrity and validation.
- Information Security: Collaborate closely with Information Security teams to safeguard sensitive data.
- AI Readiness: Prepare our data for AI initiatives by ensuring high data quality and accessibility.
- Continuous Improvement: Establish metrics to track and enhance data governance processes, identifying areas for improvement and driving continuous refinement of data governance practices.
We are seeking a highly experienced and results-oriented individual with a proven track record in data governance. You possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, coupled with excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Your technical expertise in data management tools and technologies is complemented by your understanding of industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
