Substance Misuse Recovery Worker

We are seeking a compassionate Substance Misuse Recovery Worker to join our dedicated team in Shrewsbury. In this role, you will support individuals who are experiencing substance misuse issues, helping them on their journey towards recovery.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement individual recovery plans in collaboration with service users, addressing their specific needs and goals.
  • Manage a caseload of individuals, providing ongoing assessment, support, and review of progress.
  • Deliver a range of evidence-based interventions, including harm reduction strategies, psychosocial support, and structured treatment plans.
  • Engage with hard-to-reach individuals through outreach services, helping them to access support and treatment.
  • Lead and facilitate group sessions on substance misuse, recovery, and wellbeing.
  • Work closely with healthcare professionals, social workers, housing providers, and other local agencies to coordinate care and ensure comprehensive support for service users.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all interactions and interventions, providing reports and data as required by management.
  • Identify and manage risks associated with substance misuse, including safeguarding concerns, mental health issues, and physical health risks.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working within substance misuse, addiction, or mental health services is essential.
  • Understanding of recovery-oriented practices and the ability to support individuals with complex needs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with service users, families, and professionals, both verbally and in writing.
  • A compassionate approach to supporting individuals in challenging circumstances, with the ability to remain resilient in a demanding environment.
  • Ability to manage a diverse caseload, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and build positive working relationships with external partners.
  • Enhanced DBS dated within the last 12 months. On the update service? You could be fast tracked through our recruitment process today.
  • Willingness to complete an enhanced DBS if you do not currently hold one.
