In Falkirk, we operate The Studio on Mondays and Fridays from 9am to 3pm, alongside Outreach services that assist individuals in their residences, community engagement, volunteering opportunities, social activities, and daily tasks such as bill payments and shopping.

Service: Housing & Community Support Services (HACSS)

Location: The Action Group, The Prentice Centre, Edinburgh (or as designated by the line manager)

Supervised by: Team Manager

Salary Range:

Unqualified: £24,402.92 - £24,890.98 per annum pro rata

Qualified: £24,890.98 - £25,338.37 per annum pro rata

Casual rate: £12 per hour; Sleepover rate (if applicable) £96 per night.

Hours: Up to 16 hours per week

Main Responsibilities:

The primary objective of this role is to deliver a compassionate, efficient, and effective support service around the clock to individuals utilizing The Action Group's services. This includes aiding individuals in skill development through supervision and participation in various support activities that enhance their opportunities and promote choice.

Role Specific Duties:
  • Implement the TAG Key Worker system, which involves organizing support plans and case reviews with all relevant stakeholders, ensuring effective communication between staff, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Support the physical and emotional wellbeing of individuals at all times, including maintaining acceptable levels of self-care and conducting risk assessments.
  • Build meaningful and trusting relationships with individuals, assisting them in gaining insight into their behaviors and reactions.
  • Encourage independence in daily living activities, providing support only when necessary (e.g., household chores, meal preparation, administrative tasks).
  • Promote hobbies, interests, and community participation, including organizing outings and accompanying individuals to various activities.
  • Assist with personal care as required.
  • Facilitate effective communication and self-advocacy for individuals.
  • Advocate for individuals when necessary, liaising with external organizations regarding benefits, education, housing, and employment.
  • Engage with relatives and caregivers, ensuring they play a significant role in the individual's life.
  • Research local services and amenities available to individuals.
  • Participate flexibly in various shift patterns as required by the needs of the individuals.
  • Occasionally cover for short-term absences of Support Workers in other teams.
General Responsibilities:
  • Adhere to TAG's Mission, Aims & Objectives, and current Business Plan.
  • Manage personal work time effectively.
  • Maintain organized filing systems and keep up with paperwork.
  • Treat all individuals with respect and consideration.
  • Ensure clear and prompt communication with staff and individuals.
