About the RoleThe Civil Engineer will be responsible for the undertaking and management of civil engineering projects as required, including the regular maintenance of the factory, office, roads, drains, services and other buildings across their large-scale site.
Main Responsibilities- To plan and lead/assist in designated civil engineering projects ensuring completion within allocated timescales and budget, including preparation and monitoring of estimates and costs. The projects must also meet the required standard, to comply with the UK legislation.
- To plan, install and commission any new equipment and to conduct/lead price and contract negotiations with suppliers in cooperation with the technical purchasing department. To also obtain competitive prices regarding the hiring of equipment/labour needed during project work. To ensure contractors meet with Company standards in terms of safety arrangements, quality and environmental matters.
- To provide recommendations increasing plant efficiency and cost effectiveness, by working closely with the engineering departments (Electrical/Mechanical) on specific areas and projects.
- To ensure the work place is kept in a clean and tidy condition, acting as the first line of contact for any maintenance or repair issues.
