About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a leading company in advanced system integration, optimizing efficiency and delivering performance on a massive scale. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing electrical and control systems, including PLC-based control panels, cabling, MCCs, drives, and controls, switchgear, and related EC&I equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement electrical and control systems, including PLC-based control panels, cabling, MCCs, drives, and controls, switchgear, and related EC&I equipment.
  • Undertake site surveys, develop electrical engineering solutions, and prepare, review, and check necessary calculations and designs.
  • Lead and drive the project team, ensuring compliance with agreed procedures, methods, and standards.
  • Interpret and verify customer-supplied data, specifications, and drawings.
  • Lead the creation and modification of design packs, including system drawings, general arrangements, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Produce client design documentation and test documentation.
  • Support site acceptance testing and commissioning.
  • Support the production of tender documents and cost estimates.
Requirements
  • Experience of control systems within the energy market (or similar utility).
  • Experience of field cabling systems, including surveying and identifying routes, cable calculations for sizing and earthing/protection.
  • Experience of control panel design incorporating PLC, I/O, Comms cards, UPS's, etc.
  • Educated to at least degree level in a relevant subject or HND with additional experience of at least 5 years post-graduate experience or 6 years post-HND experience on successful project implementation in the above areas of expertise.
  • Computer literate with Word, Autocad, and Excel experience.
  • Methodical approach to the interpretation of customer requirements and delivery of project documentation.
  • Understanding of the full project lifecycle.
Desirable Skills
  • Experience in at least one of the following: Rockwell (Control Logix), Siemens (PC7S, TIA Portal), Schneider (M580, M340).
  • Site installation and commissioning experience of control systems.
  • Experience of Motor Control Centres – specification, procurement, installation, etc.
  • Good understanding of BS7671 IEE 18th Edition Wiring Regs.
  • Awareness of/understanding of DSEAR Regulations and Hazardous area applications.
  • Awareness of/understanding of Functional Safety (IEC 61508/61511).
