Lead Backend Engineer - Java

At Capco, we're seeking a highly skilled Lead Backend Engineer to join our team in Edinburgh. As a key member of our engineering team, you'll play a crucial role in shaping the future of our financial services industry.

About the Role

We're looking for an experienced engineer who can lead the development of our cloud-based platforms, leveraging their expertise in Java 8+, SpringBoot, Gradle, and Maven. You'll work closely with our team to design, develop, and deploy modern, scalable, and secure systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of our backend systems, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality, security, and performance.
  • Collaborate with our team to design and implement microservices architecture, leveraging container technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Develop and maintain our RESTful APIs, ensuring they're secure, scalable, and efficient.
  • Work closely with our QA team to ensure our systems meet the required standards of quality and security.
  • Contribute to the development of our engineering practices, ensuring we're always up-to-date with the latest technologies and trends.
Requirements
  • Excellent knowledge of Java 8+, SpringBoot, Gradle, and Maven.
  • Experience with microservices architecture, container technologies, and cloud-based platforms.
  • Strong understanding of security principles, including authentication, authorization, and encryption.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and guide junior engineers.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and continuous integration.
