About the Role

We're seeking a skilled Reliability Engineer to join our Platform team at Starling Bank. As a Reliability Engineer, you'll play a critical role in building and maintaining the systems that ensure our platform's resilience, scalability, and observability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement systems to ensure platform resilience, using cutting-edge techniques in observability and reliability engineering.
  • Enhance our incident response capability through tooling and practice improvements, collaborating with other teams to establish key practices in their development lifecycle.
  • Participate in chaos experimentation to improve resilience and identify areas for improvement.
Requirements
  • Comfortable coding in at least one major language (Java, Go, Python, JavaScript).
  • Experience working in the Cloud, with a strong understanding of AWS and GCP.
  • Passion for reducing toil via automation and taking ownership of features from idea to production.
  • Expertise in observability/monitoring/telemetry in modern cloud-based environments, with a strong understanding of Prometheus, Grafana, Sentry, and other tools.
  • Conversant with concepts from domains such as Linux, networking, containerisation, distributed systems, and immutable infrastructure.
