About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Hardware Engineering Lead to join our team at Spire Global. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for the overall engineering development of our Spire design.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own electrical and mechanical design, ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality and performance.
  • Develop and implement test plans to ensure that our products are thoroughly tested and validated.
  • Drive prototyping and testing of mechanical and electro-mechanical systems, identifying and resolving any issues that arise.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prepare detailed system documentation, ensuring that all stakeholders have the information they need to succeed.
  • Provide production support to our manufacturing team, ensuring that our products are produced to the highest standards.
  • Assist other team members from multiple disciplines to achieve their goals, providing guidance and support as needed.

Requirements

  • Degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, with a strong understanding of electronics theory and circuitry.
  • Experience with PCB design, including schematic capture and layout using enterprise software, with a focus on Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles.
  • Knowledge of high-speed digital layout design practices and signal integrity, including matched impedance, stack up, and manufacturing restrictions.
  • Experience with digital communication interfaces, including I2C, SPI, CAN, UART, USB, LVDS, and Ethernet.
  • Experience with lab equipment, including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, and other tools.
  • Experience using mechanical CAD tools, such as SolidWorks, and mechanical DFM.
  • Strong debugging experience and fault identification skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with rapid prototyping and environmental testing.
  • Knowledge of RF theory and circuitry, including power amps, filters, and layout.
  • Knowledge of RF systems engineering.
  • Basic software skills, including familiarity with Linux, Python, scripting, and testing automation.
  • Thermal design experience.
