Maintenance Engineer

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Apprentice Maintenance Engineer to join our team at DFS Furniture Ltd. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our manufacturing sites by carrying out proactive maintenance, reducing downtime, and improving machine efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maximise Productivity: Proactively maintain equipment and machinery to ensure optimal performance and reduce downtime.
- Safety First: Ensure all work is carried out safely, and machines are well-maintained in a safe working condition.
- Training and Development: Provide support and training to engineering apprentices, ensuring they have the necessary skills to perform their roles effectively.
- Regulatory Compliance: Carry out regulatory and statutory inspections, and ensure contractors are correctly managed when on site.
- Spare Parts Management: Update spare part inventory, ensuring enough spares are kept in stock.
- Record Keeping: Keep accurate records and provide detailed reports on maintenance, breakdowns, and incidents.
- Process Improvement: Provide ideas and solutions to improve current machinery and processes, and support in specifying new machinery.
- Risk Assessment: Carry out risk assessments and develop Site-Specific Operating Procedures (SSOWs).
Requirements:
- Experience: 5+ years' experience in a maintenance role.
- Qualifications: Minimum NVQ Level 3 in Electrical or Mechanical.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of engineering concepts, including electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
- Personal Qualities: Strong analytical thinking, decision-making skills, good literacy and numeracy skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, team player, adaptable, and flexible.
