Job Title: Production Operative

STS Defence is seeking a skilled Production Operative to join our team. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for ensuring the assembly of products meets the required quality, cost, and delivery standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and assemble units/PCBs, including soldering, in accordance with detailed work instruction sheets, customer-specific drawings, and specifications.
  • Read and interpret complex CCA drawings, including systems and notes.
  • Verify that routings and detailed work instruction sheets have been followed for all activities.
  • Adhere to the Company's quality operating procedures at all times during the execution of day-to-day assembly activities, complying with IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, AS9100, and NADCAP procedures where required.
  • Ensure compliance to the Company's Health and Safety and Environmental procedures.
  • Become proficient in the procedures and processes relevant to the position and highlight training needs when required.
  • Act at all times in accordance with the terms and conditions described in the Employee's contract of employment.
  • Apply a professional and conscious approach in your day-to-day operations.
  • Engage in 5S activities as required by local supervision and other Lean events when required to do so.
  • Carry out any other duties commensurate with your skills.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience of working within electronic assembly/PCB operations, ideally within the defence or aerospace sector.
  • A good understanding of Health and Safety Management within an engineering/manufacturing environment.
  • The ability to demonstrate attention to detail and produce a high standard of work, applying a 'right first time' approach.
  • Ideally qualified to IPC and JSTD soldering standards.
  • Willingness and desire to learn new skills and invest in professional development.
  • Excellent communications skills with proven experience of engaging and building relationships within a team.
