About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Design Manager to join our fast-paced Womenswear Design team at Barbour, a leading luxury fashion brand. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for leading the design process from concept to final cohesive ranges, ensuring that our products meet the highest quality standards, market trends, and brand identity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Research and Planning
    • Develop seasonal range plans based on sales analysis and market trends.
    • Create inspiring moodboards and colour palettes that reflect our brand's heritage and luxury aesthetic.
    • Manage the design of collections from concept to complete sampled range.
  • Design and Development
    • Lead the design of our BI and APAC collections, ensuring that they meet business key seasonal objectives and range size targets.
    • Manage direct reports to work to business end-to-end process deadlines and ensure individual deadlines are met.
    • Create accurate, detailed technical specifications suitable for global manufacture.
    • Train and manage direct reports to achieve department standards.
    • Sign off fit for collections and communicate product changes to the tech team.
    • Ensure samples are reviewed in adequate time to meet key deadlines and achieve target margin.
    • Represent the BI and APAC team in feedback sessions and research trips.
    • Take part in product development and research trips.
    • Manage the design process for any allocated collaborations.
    • Manage the training and development of direct reports.
  • Communication
    • Create and present clear, commercial, and visually exciting product presentations to senior management and sales teams.
    • Prepare for weekly meetings to discuss timelines, design team, and any upcoming events.
    • Manage direct reports to provide accurate information on category areas to the Marketing and E-commerce teams.
    • Present range direction and product collections both internally and externally.
    • Manage the design team to arrange samples and outfit selections for seasonal photoshoots.
    • Manage the BI and APAC design team to prepare for launch events.
    • Ensure Product Management is kept up to date with any changes that could impact cost and PLM product information.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in fashion design or related field.
  • Experience in a similar environment, retail, or wholesale fashion is preferred.
  • Previous leadership or management experience in a design-related role.
  • In-depth knowledge of clothing garment construction, fabrics, and manufacturing processes.
