Job Title: Radiological Protection Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Radiological Protection Specialist to join our team at Sizewell B Power Station. As a key member of our Environmental Support department, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our nuclear power plant.

About the Role

As a Radiological Protection Specialist, you will be responsible for providing expert advice and guidance on radiological protection matters, including the assessment of radioactive discharges to the environment and the associated environmental monitoring programme. You will also contribute to the arrangements for the accumulation, storage, and disposal of solid radioactive waste.

You will work closely with our operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to provide radiological protection advice and support, and will be responsible for reviewing outage programmes and developing detailed radiological protection plans for outages.

In addition, you will provide technical advice and oversight of the site arrangements for the assessment of radiation doses, management of radiological monitoring instrumentation, radioactive material control, and for radioactive material movement and transport.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversight of arrangements for the assessment of radioactive discharges to the environment and the associated environmental monitoring programme
  • Contributing to the arrangements for the accumulation, storage, and disposal of solid radioactive waste
  • Providing radiological protection advice in support of operations, maintenance, and engineering
  • Reviewing outage programmes and developing detailed radiological protection plans for outages
  • Providing technical advice and oversight of the site arrangements for the assessment of radiation doses, management of radiological monitoring instrumentation, radioactive material control, and for radioactive material movement and transport
  • Supporting in development and delivery of training associated with radiological protection and radioactive substances regulations
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to hold an HNC qualification or equivalent, and have experience of applying Radioactive Substances Regulations. You will also need to have excellent organisational, communication, and people management skills, as well as self-motivation and a proactive approach to dealing with technical issues.
