Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Anaesthetics Specialist to join our team at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality anaesthetic services to patients across our three hospital sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the delivery of anaesthetic services within the directorate, ensuring a high standard of care for patients.
  • Participate in the out-of-hours rota, providing cover for emergency anaesthetic procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with other medical and clinical staff to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Develop and implement clinical governance policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Trust standards.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of anaesthetic services, including the design and delivery of training programs for junior staff.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Specialty Doctor in Anaesthetics or equivalent.
  • Full GMC registration and a valid license to practice.
  • Experience of working in a similar-sized Trust, with a strong understanding of clinical governance and quality improvement.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire junior staff.
Working Environment

The successful candidate will be based at one of our three hospital sites, with opportunities to work across all three locations. The Trust serves a population of 320,000 and provides a range of medical services, including emergency care, elective surgery, and diagnostic services.
