About the Position
As a Setting Out Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the construction process, focusing on the precise setting out of ground beams and piles. Your responsibilities will include verifying drawings, establishing setting out information and levels, producing as-built documentation, and collaborating with clients and contractors. You will ensure that all work adheres to the highest standards of Health, Safety, and Environmental practices, preparing the construction site for successful development.
In this role, you will work closely with our Piling & Smartfoot ground beam teams, utilizing site plans and precision instruments to accurately mark out piles, beams, and pile caps. Proficiency in AutoCAD will be essential for overlaying drawings, documenting as-built conditions, and communicating any issues to the operations team. Attention to detail and strong communication skills are vital, as we prioritize exceptional customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately set out piles and beams on site, documenting as-built conditions and reporting discrepancies.
- Conduct levelling and surveying activities on site.
- Facilitate communication between engineers and the construction team to ensure the accuracy of plans and drawings.
- Provide reinforced concrete setting out support to the construction team.
- Maintain a detailed site diary.
- Report site progress to the engineering and survey department.
- Coordinate pile and beam layouts with site layout drawings.
- Manage your time effectively to ensure all sites are adequately supported.
- Perform quality control checks and maintain build records.
- Offer technical support on-site.
- Assist in supervising subcontractors during setting out activities.
- Verify quantities for calculation accuracy.
- Engage with subcontractors, planners, quantity surveyors, and the general workforce.
- Participate in regular site meetings to keep clients and management informed of progress.
- Prepare reports and assist with daily site management tasks.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role.
- Knowledge of surveying and construction methodologies.
- Experience in structural setting out.
- Familiarity with reinforced concrete practices.
- Strong numerical skills and the ability to perform mathematical calculations.
- The capability to interpret and analyze data effectively.
- A collaborative mindset and the ability to work well within a team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with AutoCAD.
- A valid CSCS card.
