Position Overview

Abatec Recruitment is seeking a skilled Lead Engineer for Electrical Testing and Inspection to contribute to a significant nuclear energy project in the UK. This role is pivotal in ensuring the delivery of sustainable energy solutions that will benefit numerous households and support the economy.

As the Lead Engineer for Electrical Testing and Inspection, you will leverage your expertise to oversee the evaluation and verification of all electrical systems, including instrumentation and control (I&C) as well as building services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, including the Electrical at Work Regulation 1989, the Electricity Safety Quality and Continuity Regulations 2002, and The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
  • Collaborate with the installation team to enforce BS7671 and RCC-E standards for electrical system testing and inspection.
  • Oversee the progress of testing and inspection activities for electrical installations.
  • Represent our client in stakeholder meetings concerning electrical testing and inspection matters.
  • Work closely with project management and planning teams to establish realistic timelines for energization.

Qualifications Required:

  • HND/Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Proficient understanding of BS7671 testing standards.
  • Possession of BS7671 18th edition certification.
  • City and Guilds qualification.
  • Familiarity with electrical safety systems, including lock-out and isolation protocols.
  • Ability to obtain BPSS security clearance or higher.
  • Proficient IT skills.
