PRIVATE EQUITY PORTFOLIO ANALYST
Maven Capital Partners, a subsidiary of Mattioli Woods, is seeking a Portfolio Analyst to support our London/South division. This position will report directly to the Portfolio Director.
The primary objective of this role is to assist the senior portfolio team in enhancing value creation within the private company investment portfolio. This will involve monitoring growth and cash flow requirements against established plans, conducting thorough analyses, and preparing regular reports for the Maven investment committee to assess progress. The successful candidate will collaborate with the portfolio team to provide guidance and support to management teams of investee companies, critically evaluating strategies, aiding in the execution of value creation plans, and leveraging professional network contacts as necessary, all aimed at maximizing shareholder value.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the portfolio management function by attending board meetings of investee companies and engaging with management teams to offer strategic support and constructive feedback.
- Maintain regular communication with portfolio companies to ensure timely provision of information.
- Assist in the management of investee businesses to comprehend the dynamics of growth, including analysis of management accounts and board presentations.
- Contribute to the creation of comprehensive and insightful monthly and quarterly updates and reviews of individual and consolidated SME business performance within the portfolio.
- Update the fund administration platform with monthly financial performance and quarterly valuation data for investee companies.
- Assist in preparing investment committee proposals for follow-on funding or modifications to investment terms.
- Perform any additional duties as requested by the line manager or a member of the leadership team that fall within the scope and purpose of the role.
- Adhere to and promote all organizational policies, including those related to Equality and Diversity and Health & Safety.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to research new industry sectors, assimilate information quickly, and draw appropriate conclusions and recommendations.
- Proficient Excel modeling skills.
- Clear and professional verbal and written communication skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- A collaborative team player capable of working effectively with colleagues at all levels.
- Excellent relationship management skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Resilient and resourceful in supporting the portfolio management function when addressing challenging situations with investee businesses.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Business acumen with an understanding of the commercial parameters that businesses operate within and a professional approach in dealings with investee companies.
- A degree in a relevant numerate discipline.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
- Possession of or progress towards a professional accountancy or investment-related qualification.
