Transport Administrator Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Transport Administrator to support our team at AO. The successful candidate will have excellent administrative and organisational skills, with a strong understanding of transport legislation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Record and manage vehicle defects, ensuring that vehicles are not used if they are classified as 'off-the-road'
  • Allocate routes to Self-Employed drivers for the following day, ensuring efficient use of resources
  • Update daily reports for the Outbase and log any issues, maintaining accurate records
  • Communicate effectively with drivers, ensuring that statements and paperwork are completed in a timely manner
  • Complete licence checks for new Self-Employed Drivers, ensuring compliance with regulations
  • Order uniform and equipment as needed, maintaining a well-stocked inventory
  • Issue and report lost or stolen fuel cards, ensuring security and accountability
  • Raise purchase orders when required, managing budgets and resources
  • Perform daily checks, including fire logs and site checks, to ensure a safe working environment
  • Ensure that all vehicles are loaded efficiently, within legal and safety guidelines
  • Support the team in achieving agreed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Requirements
  • Strong understanding of transport legislation and regulations
  • Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure, with excellent problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft packages, including Excel at an intermediate or advanced level
