Design Manager Job Overview

As a key member of our client's engineering team, the Design Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of design engineering projects from conception through to delivery.

The successful candidate will have experience in managing, developing, and growing a team of engineers, with a focus on electrical and automation design.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and coordinate design engineering projects to ensure timely delivery and high-quality results.
  • Lead and develop a team of engineers, providing guidance and support to ensure they have the necessary skills and resources to succeed.
  • Oversee the design and development of control panels, PLCs, HMI, SCADA, and software, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project execution and delivery.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience in design engineering, with a focus on electrical and automation design.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team of engineers.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with control panel design, PLCs, HMI, SCADA, and software development.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations, including electrical and mechanical engineering principles.
What We Offer:
  • A competitive salary of £50,000 - £55,000, depending on experience.
  • A performance-related bonus of up to 10% annually.
  • 25 days' holiday, plus bank holidays (3 days to be used during Christmas shutdown).
  • A death in service benefit and company pension.
