Experienced Theatre Assistant

We are seeking an experienced Theatre Assistant to join our team at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board. As a key member of our Operating Theatre team, you will provide essential support to our registered staff in maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and ensuring the smooth operation of our theatres.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare the theatre environment for surgical procedures, ensuring daily safety checks are carried out.
- Ensure the availability of necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies prior to and during surgery.
- Participate in swab, sharps, and instrument counts, as well as checking and dispensing of lotions and fluids.
- Assist the scrub practitioner with specimen collection, handling, and dispatch for laboratory examination.
- Connect and test diathermy and suction apparatus, as well as other equipment required in the theatre.
- Maintain stock levels in the operating theatre, rotating stock, and checking for out-of-date items.
- Peri-operative care diploma (NVQ3 level 3) in Health and Social Care or equivalent qualification or knowledge and experience to this level.
- Completion of in-service training/competency package related to Perioperative care.
- Able to work under pressure in an unpredictable environment and possess good organisational skills.
- Awareness of Health and Safety policies and COSHH, as well as experience of working with specialised equipment.
