Job OverviewFinance Manager Role
Are you a seasoned Finance Manager seeking a fresh opportunity? If you possess experience in the construction sector and are eager to apply your expertise in a new setting, this position may be ideal for you.
Our client, Alexander Fisher, is in search of a dedicated individual to lead a Finance Team of two, directly reporting to the Finance Director. The ideal candidate will have a background in finance management or bookkeeping, complemented by a personable demeanor suitable for a construction office environment. Experience with CIS and payroll processes is also beneficial, particularly for covering during absences in the payroll department.
Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the management of purchase and sales/payroll ledgers.
  • Review payroll and subcontractor payment processes.
  • Handle cashbook processing, bank reconciliations, and cash allocation control.
  • Assist with data processing as needed.
  • Ensure data integrity throughout all financial processes.
  • Manage month-end ledger closures and validations according to the established timetable.
  • Submit and reconcile HMRC returns, including PAYE, NI, VAT, and CIS.
  • Maintain hire purchase files and agreements.
  • Implement enhancements to reporting and processing for improved efficiency, collaborating with relevant departments.
  • Record purchase invoices accurately and transition to an electronic purchase ledger system over time.
  • Oversee daily office management tasks.
  • Perform any additional duties as required.
  • Organize and maintain personnel records.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Demonstrated experience as a Finance Manager or in a similar role.
  • Familiarity with financial systems and applications.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • A degree or qualification in financial management or a related field is advantageous, though not mandatory.
  • Prior experience in the construction industry is a plus, but not essential.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Experience with SAGE 200 and Line 50 is preferred.
