About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Mental Health Practitioner to join our team at Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Mental Health Support Team, you will play a vital role in delivering evidence-based interventions for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and deliver outcome-focused interventions in educational settings for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties.
  • Work in partnership with children, young people, their families, and educators to support the self-management of presenting difficulties.
  • Develop and implement plans for intervention and agreed outcomes in collaboration with children, young people, their families, and educators.
  • Empower children, young people, their families, and educators to make informed choices about interventions being offered.
  • Operate from an inclusive values base, recognizing and respecting diversity.
  • Accept referrals within educational settings according to agreed local and national protocols.
  • Undertake and record accurate assessments of risk and operate clear risk management processes in line with locally agreed procedures, including safeguarding protocols.
Requirements
  • Successful completion of the HEE commissioned 1yr 'Education Mental Health Practitioner' course or the equivalent 'Children's Wellbeing Practitioner' course.
  • Postgraduate Diploma/Graduate Diploma Psychological Therapies Practice (Low Intensity CBT for Children, Young People & Families).
  • Postgraduate Diploma/Graduate Diploma Mental Health Practice in Education Settings.
  • Teaching qualification.
  • Youth Mental Health First Aid trained.
Experience
  • Experience of working with children and young people, their families, and others.
  • Experience of working with children and their families in a healthcare setting.
  • Experience of working with children and their families in an education setting.
