Job Overview

We are in search of a dedicated Health and Safety Coordinator to become a vital part of our Health & Safety division. In this role, you will collaborate closely with our internal teams focused on Health and Safety, Quality, and Compliance to ensure that our organization upholds all necessary certifications and adheres to legal requirements in health, safety, and quality operations.

Working Hours: Monday - Friday Days (9:00 - 17:00)

Compensation: £25,876 Per Annum

As the chosen candidate, your contributions will be essential to the success of our operations, and you will report directly to the Operations Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implementing improvement actions related to Major Accident Hazards (MAH).
  • Establishing a robust risk assessment process to identify MAH scenarios.
  • Maintaining records and control over appointed contractors and scheduled site maintenance.
  • Overseeing waste management and site cleanliness.
  • Ensuring an effective competence management system is upheld.
  • Understanding and managing all components of a Health and Safety Management System.
  • Ensuring all plant and machinery are safe for use and compliant with legal standards.
  • Providing guidance on compliance with statutory requirements and company policies.
  • Conducting risk assessments related to Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) as necessary.
  • Assisting in the implementation of ISO9001, OHSAS 18001, and ISO 14001 standards.
  • Encouraging employee engagement in Health, Safety, and Environmental matters.
  • Supporting management in Health and Safety Risk Assessments and COSHH Assessments to meet or exceed legislative standards.
  • Participating in Health, Safety, and Environmental training for existing staff and delivering induction training for new hires, including agency personnel.
  • Advising on current Health and Safety legislation, guidance, and best practices.

Qualifications:

As a Health and Safety Coordinator, you should possess the following skills, experience, and qualifications:

  • Experience in Health and Safety Auditing (Annual Health and Safety Audit).
  • Familiarity with EMS 14001 auditing.
  • Ability to assess risks effectively.
  • Experience in maintaining Safe Systems of Work.
  • Active participation in monthly Health and Safety meetings.
  • Training experience related to Evacuation procedures.
  • Role of Fire Marshal.
  • Role of Racking Inspector.
  • Knowledge of assessing Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH).
  • Experience as a Super User for EOA and Fleet Focus (training will be provided).
  • Managing controlled documents.
  • Ability to devise and deliver safety briefs, including safety conversations.
  • Controlling permits to work for contractors on site.
  • Conducting internal audits.
  • Overseeing Health and Safety for the site in collaboration with the General Manager.
