Senior Multi Skilled Trade Operative Opportunity

Cheltenham Borough Council is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Multi Skilled Trade Operative to join our Building Services Team.

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled tradesperson to work with our Repairs Supervisors and Logistics Co-ordinator to provide an effective and efficient multi-trade repair, maintenance, and replacement service for our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform a range of repairs, including carpentry, plumbing, and appliance reconnections
  • Supervise and train junior staff and apprentices when required
  • Manage vehicles, tools, and materials
  • Collaborate with other trades for efficient repairs
  • Ensure safety, safeguarding, and tailored service for vulnerable tenants
  • Continuously improve service and address skill gaps through training
Requirements
  • Proven experience in multi-trade work
  • Awareness of Asbestos Regulations and manual handling experience
  • Competent in driving van-sized vehicles in urban areas
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations
  • Strong team player with the ability to work well with the Repairs Manager and team
  • Proficient in using a PDA for job details, ordering materials, and work confirmations
  • Customer care-focused with effective communication skills
  • Problem-solving ability and a logical approach to tasks
