About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Engineering Technician to join our team at Magna International Inc. in Birmingham. As an Engineering Technician, you will play a critical role in supporting the safety, quality, and productivity of our manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support Safety and Quality Initiatives: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements that enhance safety and quality.
  • Maintain and Troubleshoot Equipment: Troubleshoot and repair manufacturing equipment, including robots, PLCs, controls, electrical systems, and other machinery.
  • Install and Modify Equipment: Assist in the design, installation, and modification of new or improved manufacturing equipment, components, and processes.
  • Minimize Downtime: Respond promptly to andon or radio calls to minimize downtime and ensure continuous production.
  • Operate Testing and Troubleshooting Equipment: Utilize various testing and troubleshooting equipment to diagnose and resolve equipment issues.
  • Apply Rigging and Crane Knowledge: Demonstrate a good understanding of rigging and crane operations to ensure safe and efficient equipment movement.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office: Possess basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Apply Electrical and Mechanical Knowledge: Demonstrate general knowledge of electrical theory and troubleshooting, as well as general mechanical knowledge.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: A 2-year degree from a technical college or a minimum of three years of on-the-job training with a heavy industrial manufacturing facility in a skilled trade capacity.
  • Technical Training: Journeyman Certification is preferred, and general knowledge of industrial maintenance with an emphasis on electrical, mechanical, robotics, or controls application is required.
