The selected individual will play a crucial role in delivering specialized education and support to learners facing Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges. Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement engaging, customized lessons tailored to the unique needs of students with SEN/SEMH.
  • Create and maintain individualized education plans (IEPs) while regularly evaluating and reporting on student development.
  • Establish a secure and inclusive educational atmosphere that promotes personal growth and academic success.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and external organizations to ensure holistic support for students.
  • Adhere to and enforce the institution's policies, including behavior management strategies, to foster positive behavior and well-being.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Must possess a recognized teaching qualification.
  • Experience: Demonstrated experience working with students with SEN/SEMH, ideally in an alternative educational setting.
  • Specialized Knowledge: Familiarity with various SEN/SEMH conditions and effective educational strategies.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication abilities, capable of engaging effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Adaptability: Capacity to modify teaching approaches to accommodate individual student needs and manage challenging situations with composure and professionalism.
  • Team Player: Excellent collaboration skills, committed to fostering a positive and inclusive educational culture.

Desirable:

  • Additional qualifications or training in SEN/SEMH education.
  • Experience in providing therapeutic interventions or collaborating with multi-agency teams.
