About the Role:
Cheshire and Wirral Partnership Trust is seeking a dedicated Consultant Psychiatrist to enhance our clinical team. This position is a replacement role within the South East Locality, focusing on secure and rehabilitation services, which encompasses multiple inpatient units and a forensic outreach team.

Main Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will engage in 10 programmed activities weekly, comprising 7.5 hours of Direct Clinical Care (DCC) and 2.5 hours of Supporting Professional Activities (SPA). Additionally, participation in an on-call rota is expected, with an extra 1 PA allocated for emergency duties. Initial responsibilities will include:

  • Providing clinical leadership for a 15-bed adult mental health low secure rehabilitation unit.
  • Overseeing the clinical management of 7 step-down rehabilitation beds.
  • Facilitating discussions regarding referrals through the single point of access.

Essential:

  • Full registration with the GMC and a valid license to practice.
  • Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility within six months.
  • Approved clinician status or ability to achieve within three months.
  • Approval under S12 or capability to obtain within three months.
Desirable:
  • Good standing with the GMC regarding practice warnings or conditions.
Qualifications:
Essential:
  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
Desirable:
  • Higher degree in medical education, clinical research, or management.
  • MRCPsych or additional clinical qualifications.
Clinical Skills and Experience:
Essential:
  • Extensive knowledge in the specialty.
  • Strong clinical skills with a bio-psycho-social perspective.
  • Excellent communication abilities in English.
  • Capability to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty.
  • Evidence-based decision-making skills.
  • Ability to fulfill duties under MHA and MCA.
