About the Role:
Oliver Sanderson is collaborating with a prominent global organization in Europe, recognized as one of the leading firms in the Engineering sector. This is a matrix organization with a robust infrastructure division where you will play a pivotal role as the Director of Design and Engineering.
The Director of Design and Engineering will be an integral part of the senior leadership team, reporting directly to the divisional CEO. This role involves building and managing a diverse design team dedicated to decarbonization initiatives while ensuring quality control and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the technical operations within the division.
- Ensure quality control and compliance in all design-related processes.
- Develop and implement strategies for Building Information Modelling and digital information management.
- Establish design objectives that align with the organization's goals.
- Monitor and manage design and engineering risks through a dedicated committee.
- Foster strong communication and inclusivity within the design team and across the division.
- Encourage innovation and digital transformation within the division.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in all design and engineering activities.
- Oversee budgets related to design and engineering functions.
- Engage and influence key stakeholders effectively.
Candidate Profile:
We are seeking a dynamic leader with extensive experience at a senior level in managing multi-disciplinary design and engineering teams across various projects. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional project and change management skills, a comprehensive understanding of business assurance and risk management systems, and proven experience in implementing innovative systems and methodologies. Strong budget management skills, excellent communication abilities, and a solid grasp of digital information management and BIM strategies are essential. A strong business and commercial acumen is preferred, ideally supported by a master's degree in design, M&E Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Experience in construction, engineering, or contracting firms is highly desirable.
