We are seeking an exceptional Lead Systems Engineer to contribute to our operations at Subsea 7 in a permanent role.

Within the Systems Engineering division, the Lead Systems Engineer will play a pivotal role in delivering a technically sound and optimized system solution for significant SURF Define and Execute projects managed by the GPC organization. This includes defining system functional requirements, resolving critical design decisions, identifying and managing technical interfaces, mitigating risks and uncertainties in design, and implementing validation processes to ensure effective and suitable design solutions.

The Systems Engineering Lead will oversee the comprehensive system design solution across large, multi-location technical teams, representing Subsea 7 and Subsea Integration Alliance (SIA) when relevant. This role will involve engaging with clients to showcase our capabilities and unique offerings, demonstrating our proficiency in addressing complex and diverse project scopes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Comprehension and communication of system design and functional requirements.
  • Articulation of design drivers and decision-making criteria.
  • Technical coordination of discipline work-scopes encompassing the function and design of all system components.
  • Ensuring mechanical and functional compatibility and consistency throughout the system.
  • Management of design trades to enhance system performance relative to identified drivers and decision-making criteria across functions.
  • Understanding client priorities and integrating them into design and equipment selection (e.g., operability, availability, integration with subsurface, etc.).
  • Applying a system-level perspective to typical activities, including PFDs, schematics, block diagrams, field layout, production assurance, flow assurance, reliability/availability modeling, testing and commissioning philosophies, material selection, coatings, and risk management.
  • Supporting the Tender team in interpreting client requirements, identifying their priorities, and developing a tender execution strategy.
  • Identifying, evaluating, and managing key system technical risks, seeking mitigations where feasible, and populating risk registers to ensure critical risk items are escalated.
  • Acting as an ambassador for Subsea 7 (and SIA), promoting our technical solutions and differentiators.

Desired Experience:

We encourage candidates who may not meet every requirement but possess relevant skills and experience to apply. A strong technical background coupled with commercial insight is essential for Systems Engineering Leads.

  • Background in Systems Engineering.
  • Proven ability to lead multi-discipline technical teams in subsea projects.
  • Experience in identifying and managing interfaces within the engineering team, including technical disciplines, project management, clients, suppliers, and key stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal, written, and electronic.
  • Demonstrated experience with collaborative working practices.
  • Prior experience in Design Leadership or Project Management.
  • Significant experience in one or more of the following areas: Subsea Engineering, Flow Assurance, Production Operations, Project Engineering.
  • Experience in hardware package delivery (Systems, Trees, Controls, Pipelines, Manifolds, etc.).
  • Installation experience.
