Job Summary

The Pharmacy Co-ordinator will be responsible for the joint co-ordination of the BRI inpatient pharmacy and the sole co-ordination of Pharmacy Distribution/Medicines Optimisation services. The role will be split 50/50 between the two service areas listed above.

Main Duties
  • Assist the pharmacy manager with the training of all staff, including encouraging and organising attendance on relevant recognised courses.
  • Assist with the recruitment of pharmacy staff in line with Trust policies and procedures.
  • Ensure appropriate levels of staff cover by being involved in annual leave approval and study leave.
  • Responsible for arranging regular destruction of controlled drugs with a representative of the Trust Board in attendance and maintaining monthly CD stock checks.
  • Assist the pharmacy manager/operations manager and the pharmacy support services manager with monitoring workload and ensure workload is managed consistently throughout the day by the effective deployment of staff.

Person Specification
  • Registration as a Pharmacy Technician with GPhC.
  • Accreditation in Final Accuracy Checking and Medicines Optimisation.
  • Evidence of continued professional development.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Recent NHS hospital pharmacy experience as a pharmacy technician in a range of roles within pharmacy.
  • Understanding of confidentiality and how to apply.
Aptitudes and Skills
  • Able to prioritise time and workload effectively.
  • A positive and flexible attitude.
  • Leadership skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good IT skills.
