A reputable family-owned contractor is seeking to enhance their rail division by appointing a Senior Commercial Manager. This pivotal role will oversee two portfolios with an approximate turnover of £60 million.
The successful candidate will take on significant commercial responsibilities, collaborating with commercial managers to ensure the effective delivery of projects while nurturing client relationships, managing risks, and optimizing financial outcomes.
The projects are located between Bristol and Birmingham, allowing for a fully hybrid working arrangement, with flexibility to work from home and occasional office visits. Key responsibilities include:
- Engaging with clients, representatives, and third parties on commercial matters, including negotiating additional funding.
- Leading negotiations on terms and contracts with clients and stakeholders.
- Contributing to the strategic direction of tenders and aligning win themes during the PQQ and tender phases.
- Managing costs and value for projects, ensuring robust systems and procedures are in place.
- Guaranteeing high-quality financial reporting for projects and portfolios within the business unit.
- Overseeing the preparation of cost plans for complex projects, utilizing various cost planning techniques and managing data compilation for analysis.
- Developing long-term cash forecasts, monitoring outcomes, and interpreting variances.
- Leading commercial teams, including recruitment and professional development for senior staff.
The portfolios encompass a diverse range of Building, Civil Engineering, M&E, and Facilities Management projects across various clients. Experience in the rail sector is not a prerequisite; candidates with relevant experience in these alternative sectors are encouraged to apply.
The company offers a competitive salary ranging from £85,000 to £105,000, depending on experience, along with a company car or allowance, private healthcare, options for additional holidays, flexible and remote working arrangements, enhanced parental leave, a competitive pension scheme, mileage reimbursement, and life assurance.
