Job Overview

Compensation: £43,750pa to approximately £54,650pa based on qualifications and experience. As a Senior Architect, you will assist the Station Lead Architect by serving as the design client liaison with the Station Integrated Project Team (IPT) and the engineering design teams of the Station Design and Build Contractor. Your role will involve ensuring that requirements and specifications are met while applying the HS2 Design Vision.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate and assist the Lead Architect in all project delivery aspects, acting as the technical authority and subject matter expert (SME) for architecture and design matters related to the station.
  • Provide specialized technical knowledge and support for architecture and design disciplines, ensuring delivery aligns with HS2's objectives.
  • Assist in preparing technical scope inputs for procurement and evaluate tender submissions.
  • Review architectural and design-related requirements from suppliers to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Respond to architectural Requests for Information (RFIs).
  • Contribute technical input for Planning Application packages and ensure conditions are met.
  • Collaborate with various contractors' designers to prepare for formal Independent Design Review Panel evaluations and coordinate responses to their recommendations.
  • Support the integration of architecture and design disciplines with other project areas, including civil engineering, landscape, rail systems, and construction logistics.
  • Act as a guardian for design concepts throughout their development and construction phases.
  • Work alongside the Phase 1 Engineering Team to ensure project specifications and requirements are fulfilled during detailed design and construction.
  • Secure design approvals and sign-offs.
  • Prioritize safety in all aspects of the role.
  • Serve as a custodian for the HS2 Design Vision.
  • Manage interfaces across delivery units to ensure design consistency.
  • Collaborate within the project team to identify and mitigate risks while capturing opportunities.
  • Promote and embed Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) in all work, adhering to organizational policies and initiatives.
Candidate Profile:

Skills:
  • Proficient in producing and presenting documents and reports to diverse audiences, including internal stakeholders at various organizational levels.
  • Skilled in delivering presentations that influence a broad audience and diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Experienced in developing work packages.
  • Able to execute required work packages effectively.
  • Capable of prioritizing workloads and work streams to meet deadlines.
  • Focused on delivering high-quality designs while managing multiple projects.
Knowledge:
  • Registered architect (ARB/RIBA).
  • Familiarity with relevant architectural and engineering standards, particularly in a railway/transportation context.
Experience:
  • Proven experience in a multi-disciplinary design and delivery environment.
  • Understanding of how architecture and design disciplines fit within a broader multi-disciplinary context and interdependencies.
  • Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary management team.
  • Background in project planning to meet deadlines.
