Overview of the Role:


Pertemps is pleased to present an opportunity within Harrow Council for a proactive and dedicated Revenues and Benefits Assistance Officer to become part of a growing team.

The position offers a competitive remuneration of £17.94 PAYE.

Main Responsibilities:
To deliver IT application and technical support within the Revenues & Benefits Teams, including coordination with internal and external suppliers of goods and services.

Key duties include:
  • Assisting the team in prioritizing system workloads.
  • Ensuring the efficient operation of the section's systems.
  • Leveraging software tools to enhance automation and process efficiency.
  • Maintaining compliance with relevant legislative and corporate standards.
  • Keeping precise records of hardware and software using appropriate tools.
  • Securing and controlling access to systems.
  • Managing batch jobs through the scheduler and maintaining a relevant diary to ensure timely execution of critical tasks.
  • Handling the transmission of BACS payment and recovery files to the bank on behalf of the SAP Revenues and Benefits teams, as well as printing cheques when electronic payment processes are not in place.
Additionally, you will troubleshoot system issues and collaborate with relevant third parties to ensure prompt resolutions, minimizing disruptions to users and services.
Provide first-line system support to Revenues and Benefits users, investigating and documenting system issues, and liaising with staff and management to recommend solutions when feasible. Determine when issues should be escalated to the computer system supplier.
Ensure quality control, security, and integrity of user access to the Revenues IT system, configuring user access to databases and data.

Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate will possess:
  • Flexibility in working arrangements based on service demands.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a methodical, organized approach.
  • The ability to analyze diverse data and make informed recommendations.
  • Capability to manage personal workload and adjust priorities in a dynamic work environment.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in Revenues or Housing Benefits.
  • Self-motivation to work independently in a high-pressure environment with shifting priorities.
  • Proficiency in resolving technical issues with a systematic approach.
  • A flexible attitude, with availability to work outside standard hours when necessary.
  • Good knowledge of CIVICA and Northgate IT systems.
