Our Coastal Team

We have an excellent track record in delivering coastal policy, management, and design projects within the UK and internationally. Our team sits on several coastal frameworks and undertakes a range of work for private sector clients, providing a complete coastal and marine service from front-end feasibility projects to detailed design of coastal structures, harbours, marinas, and developments.

Graduate Opportunities

Our graduates gain valuable experience working on a variety of global projects alongside a multitude of different disciplines. We encourage our graduates to develop their understanding of many elements within the water industry, including hydraulic, structural, and environmental design through calculations, report writing, and the use of engineering software.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coastal hydrodynamic and flood modelling using the MIKE software suite
  • Overtopping assessments using the Eurotop manual
  • Inspection, feasibility studies, and detailed design relating to coast protection and sea defence structures, such as revetments, rock armour, breakwaters, and embankments
  • Design of maritime structures, including quay walls, jetties, flood walls, pontoons, mooring dolphins, piers, berthing structures, steel sheet piling, lock and dock gates
  • Coastal and marine input to EIAs
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A BEng in Civil, Structural, or Coastal Engineering with a 2:1 (or equivalent) or above
  • An MEng in Civil, Structural, or Coastal Engineering would be an advantage
  • A final year project related to Port, Marine, or Coastal Engineering would be an advantage
  • Basic computer skills, including Word and Excel
  • Familiarity with the coast protection manual would be an advantage
  • Appreciation of ship simulation and port planning would be an advantage
  • Coding, modelling, GIS, or Matlab skills would be an advantage
