Commissioning Assistant

Join Essex County Council as a Commissioning Assistant and play a vital role in supporting the Adult Social Care commissioning function. This exciting opportunity will see you working closely with a dynamic team to deliver high-quality commissioning services that make a real difference to the lives of our residents.

About the Role

This is a fixed-term contract opportunity for 12 months in the Older People's Commissioning Team. As a Commissioning Assistant, you will provide day-to-day support to the team, undertaking a broad range of commissioning activities that ensure robust strategic planning and commissioning arrangements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support to the commissioning team, including writing and presenting reports, preparing draft governance reports, and coordinating activities to deliver specific projects.
  • Support Heads of Commissioning and managers with the planning and specification of projects, as well as project monitoring activity to ensure they are delivered to a high standard.
  • Build and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including families, service practitioners, providers, and partners.
  • Respond quickly to new challenges and opportunities, identifying and managing risks and opportunities, and complying with all external and internal regulation.
  • Deliver specific projects and activities that further the continuous improvement of high-performing, sustainable, and cost-effective services.
Requirements
  • Education to L3 NVQ or equivalent by experience, with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development and expert knowledge in relevant professional areas.
  • Knowledge and experience of all aspects of the commissioning cycle.
  • Understanding of Social Care and some subject matter expertise of Adult Social Care.
  • Previous experience of engaging, collaborating with, and developing projects and programmes with families, service practitioners, providers, and partners.
  • Experience of managing or delivering commissioning projects and activities.
