Position Overview:As a Lead Waste Management Engineer, you will play a crucial role in our nuclear decommissioning initiatives, collaborating with strategic partners to deliver waste management solutions to our clients. Your responsibilities will include:
- Documentation: Prepare and evaluate waste management and characterization documentation to support decommissioning efforts, including Facility & Waste Characterization Plans and Waste Management Plans.
- Expert Guidance: Provide authoritative advice on waste management and characterization.
- Regulatory Compliance: Maintain a thorough understanding of the UK regulatory framework governing waste management.
- Supply Chain Knowledge: Familiarize yourself with the radioactive waste supply chain and relevant frameworks.
- Project Contributions: Contribute your expertise to project bids and planning.
- Training and Development: Offer training and mentorship to team members and contractors.
- Data Quality Assurance: Implement the Data Quality Objective (DQO) methodology for effective characterization.

We seek candidates with a degree in a scientific or engineering discipline or relevant experience in waste management. Additional qualifications include:
- Certification as a Radioactive Waste Adviser (RWA).
- Knowledge of Class 7 transport regulations.

- Familiarity with legislation affecting waste management in the UK.
- Experience in characterizing radioactive and non-radioactive wastes.
