Senior Solicitor

About the Role:

The National Farmers Union is seeking an experienced solicitor to join our Legal Affairs Team as a Senior Solicitor - Agricultural Law. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a leading agricultural organization and contribute to the development of our legal affairs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide high-quality legal advice to colleagues across the NFU on a broad range of legal areas, including non-contentious work, high-profile litigation, and legislative drafting.
• Influence and shape the NFU's policy work and provide wider support and guidance on risk and reputational considerations.
• Work collaboratively with the Legal Affairs Team to develop and implement effective legal strategies.
• Contribute to the development of new law and policy through legislative drafting and advocacy.
• Provide excellent analytical and interpersonal skills to convey complex legal matters to a non-legal audience.

Requirements:

• Strong academic record (holding a law or non-law degree at 2:1 or above) and be a solicitor or barrister qualified to practice in England and Wales.
• Keen eye for detail and the confidence to pick up new areas of law with the support of your legal colleagues.
• Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills and the ability to convey complex legal matters to a non-legal audience.
• Ability to work collaboratively and supportively while encouraging knowledge sharing within the Legal Department and Policy Directorate.
