Bennett and Game Recruitment is seeking an experienced Transport Planner to join their team in assisting the growth and development of their logistics operations.
Our client is a leading General Haulage and Distribution firm that requires a skilled professional to manage their daily transportation planning operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate daily transportation planning operations to ensure efficient route optimization and driver management.
- Plan and issue instructions to departments to execute work as planned, ensuring that planning systems are updated in real-time.
- Reduce resources needed to execute work by planning and amalgamating tasks wherever possible.
- Ensure all collection and delivery times are planned and managed accordingly to meet customer demands.
- Meet or exceed service levels and control vehicles to ensure any major changes are re-planned as required.
- Continuously review the day's workload as it progresses and answer customer queries, involving the Manager when necessary.
- Reduce empty running to meet company targets.
Requirements:
- Transport Management CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) is highly desirable.
- Experience managing or overseeing a planning team is highly desirable.
- Previous experience using Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and planning systems is essential.
- Experience in General Haulage is highly desirable.
- Experience managing driver's hours, tacho, and infringements is essential.
- Excellent telephone manner is required.
Benefits:
- Monday to Friday (office hours)
- Salary: £32,000 - £40,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
- Excellent training provided
- 28 days' holiday including bank holidays
