Key Responsibilities:
As a Logistics Operations Supervisor, your primary focus will be on the proficient management of driver and vehicle assets, ensuring prompt delivery and retrieval of technical equipment for various events, all while adhering to client service level agreements (SLAs). Your main duties will encompass:
- Resource Allocation: Strategically plan and oversee driver and vehicle resources to align with delivery and collection timelines while complying with client SLAs.
- Collaboration with Shunting Teams: Work closely with the shunting department to manage pre-loading and unloading activities efficiently.
- Service Level Assurance: Partner with different departments to guarantee that service levels are consistently met and upheld.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with the Working Time Directive (WTD) and drivers' hours regulations, optimizing resources as necessary.
- Route Optimization: Leverage the driver schedule to devise routes that correspond with shift patterns, available hours, and considerations for absences.
- Equipment Management: Establish a sign-in/sign-out protocol to oversee equipment usage effectively.
- Legal Adherence: Monitor and guarantee compliance regarding vehicle issues, maintenance, MOTs, and other legal obligations.
- Incident Oversight: Investigate fleet damages, road traffic incidents (RTIs), and significant near misses (HPNMs), escalating concerns to management for further assistance.
- Disciplinary Actions: Conduct necessary disciplinary meetings, return-to-work discussions, and substance misuse protocols.
- Risk Management: Organize and execute risk assessments at the depot as required.
- Accident Documentation: Ensure all accidents, incidents, and near misses are recorded and reported in line with company protocols.
- Driver Communication: Maintain effective communication with drivers, providing precise start times, load details, directions, and information regarding additional shifts.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure adherence to all statutory and legal obligations, including health and safety standards and safe operational practices.
- Driver Briefings: Conduct pre-briefings and debriefings for drivers, ensuring that company standards are upheld.
Qualifications:
To excel in the role of Logistics Operations Supervisor, candidates should possess the following skills, experience, and qualifications:
- In-depth knowledge and experience of tachograph regulations and driving laws.
- A CPC National qualification is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Prior management or supervisory experience.
- Strong organizational and planning abilities, with a high degree of numeracy.
- Effective negotiation skills, capable of influencing and guiding decisions.
- Ability to perform efficiently and accurately under pressure.
- Comprehensive understanding of the Road Transport Directive and current drivers' hours legislation.
