Job Title: Higher Level Teaching Assistant - SEMH Support

SENDirect is seeking a dedicated and passionate Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our team in Alternative Provision. As an HLTA, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them to engage with learning and reintegrate successfully into mainstream education.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support pupils with SEMH needs to fully engage in learning activities.
  • Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all students within the classroom.
  • Act as a positive role model, encouraging good behaviour and high standards of conduct.
  • Create a safe and inclusive learning environment in line with the school's policies on health, safety, and safeguarding.
  • Establish positive relationships with pupils, parents, and staff, promoting student well-being and achievement.
  • Assist with the reintegration of students into mainstream education.
  • Provide additional support to students during their time in Alternative Provision, helping them to overcome barriers to learning.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs.
  • A passion for supporting students in Alternative Provision settings.
  • Ability to promote positive behaviour and engage students in learning activities.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with staff, parents, and external professionals.
  • Experience in managing classroom behaviour and creating inclusive learning environments.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to multi-task and handle pressure calmly.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Relevant HLTA qualifications or equivalent experience in a similar role.
