Job Title: Band 7 Rheumatology Specialist Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Band 7 Rheumatology Specialist Nurse to join our team at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW). The successful candidate will work in a busy outpatient setting with a day unit providing IV infusions, and will be part of a strong research-focused department with university links.

The ideal candidate will have a thorough and up-to-date knowledge of nursing theory and best practice, particularly within the specialty area of rheumatology. They will also have significant relevant clinical experience, substantial current specialty experience, and evidence of recent teaching experience.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Manage patients who are receiving biologic and high-cost therapies
  • Run 3 independent nurse-led clinics per week
  • Participate in clinical sessions allocated to manning the nurse advice line for all rheumatology patients
Person Specification:
  • Highly effective communication skills - verbally and written to staff, patients, and relatives
  • Able to gain credibility with and influence colleagues
  • Strong organisational skills - prioritising complex situations
  • The ability to lead and influence change
  • Demonstrates ability to implement and utilise audit data to improve quality
  • Clinical expert in defined area of work
  • Fluent English language skills
Qualifications:
  • Current NMC Registration
  • 1st Degree in nursing or health-related subject
  • Relevant accredited post-registration at level 3
  • Qualification in Teaching and Assessing
  • Evidence of masters level academic study or willingness to work towards Masters
  • Able to advise on and implement improvements to the quality and efficiency of care for patients
  • Ability to act as facilitator, mentor, and supervisor to colleagues
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet needs of a changing service
  • Ability to cope with emotional issues presented in the course of work, and to support others
  • Information technology skills
  • Commitment to the development and provision of high-quality nursing care
