Coalesce Management Consulting is seeking a highly skilled HV Primary Plant Design Engineer to lead the electrical substation design delivery for transmission network projects up to 400kV.

The ideal candidate will have experience in TP141 / BP141 contractors design approval engineers (CDAE) for National Grid projects, with a strong understanding of HV plant, transformers, and AutoCad.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Approval of HV plant design deliverables, such as single line diagrams, layout/elevation drawings, and SC force calculations.
  • Leading design work and advising on risks and mitigation measures.
  • Leading the technical direction of the engineering team and ensuring delivery of engineering design to programme, quality, and budgets.
  • Being the authorised approver of designs on contracts in accordance with published design/check/approve authorisation levels.
  • Identifying and effectively managing inter-disciplinary design gaps in collaboration with project engineering managers.

Additionally, the successful candidate will assist the Design Delivery Manager in the day-to-day running of the design department, including carrying out PDRs for team members and providing continuous team support.

Design Requirements:

  • AIS and GIS substation design up to 400kV.
  • Check and approve substation design deliverables, including single line diagrams, layout/elevation drawings, and MEWP access layouts.
  • Good understanding of electrical/mechanical interlocking philosophy.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of National Grid procedures and be able to carry out Contractor Design Approval Engineer (CDAE) roles as defined by National Grid or equivalent roles defined by other clients.
