Head of Procurement and Commercial

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Commercial and Procurement to join our team at Women in Rail. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for developing and delivering strategies for categories of goods or services, ensuring the company's interests are safeguarded through robust contracting arrangements and supplier relationships.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and deliver contracting strategies for all prime spend categories of direct goods and services.
- Manage market intelligence for the categories through research and maintaining an awareness of market conditions.
- Ensure all Invitation to Tender (ITT) and similar documents and supplier contracts are robust in terms of technical, quality, and commercial requirements.
- Develop, manage, and maintain procurement category strategies for the Long Marston site.
Additionally, you will be accountable for supplier relationships, ensuring regular senior-level reviews occur covering performance, collaboration, and innovation. You will also ensure maintenance events are well-planned and delivered to meet fleet asset plans.
Requirements- Demonstrable strategic supplier management experience, including knowledge of strategic influences on supply marketplaces and mechanisms for competitive advantage.
- Engineering knowledge of railway industry rolling stock and components, organization, and stakeholders preferable.
- Economic and commercial knowledge, including finance, funding, and currency.
- Self-starter, problem-solver capable of developing long-term strategies to improve performance.
- Report writing and presentation skills.
- Sound commercial acumen.
- Computer literacy, especially Microsoft Office and database knowledge.
